Megan Hill
Operations Manager, Obed Mine
Megan started her career in mining 12 years ago, when her background in land and water resources management made her an ideal candidate to take on reclamation planning at the Coal Valley Mine. Megan progressed through the ranks, gaining extensive experience managing the environmental and regulatory aspects of mining – mine wastewater, reclamation and regulatory compliance, administration and permitting. Megan played a key role in navigating and closing the Enforcement Order (EO) at Coal Valley Mine, which lead to her taking on broader compliance project work within Westmoreland.
After implementing a range of successful innovations and programs at Coal Valley in all aspects of environmental relations and operational compliance, Megan was promoted to Operations Manager at Obed Mountain Mine/Gregg River Mine in 2018.
Megan has already built a platform at Obed to support responsible development through the creation of robust functional teams, interdepartmental collaboration and the establishment of priority processes and procedures. She has also developed a team with particular strengths in problem-solving, operational efficiency and continuous improvement.
Megan has a Diploma in Land & Water Management, Land Reclamation Specialization and holds an Environmental Professional (EP) Designation, specializing in Water Quality, Site Assessment and Reclamation and Environmental Management.
